Following the request for the Nisga’a community to join IPRA-CINDER, we take this opportunity to publish the paper presented by Bruce Ziff, professor at the University of Alberta in Canada, at the XXI IPRA-CINDER Congress held in Colombia in 2018.

This paper titled “Land registration and aboriginal land rights: the Canadian experience” considers the extent to which principles of land registration in Canada intersect with the entitlements, interests, and values of Canada’s First Nations. There are myriad First Nation communities in Canada, and a range of Aboriginal property rights recognized under law. Moreover, throughout Canada, which has a federal system of governance, there are many registration systems in place. Finally, address the critical points of intersection of these two important aspects of Canadian life and law
